A Real Life (Una Vita Vera)

Watch a short film imagining the patient journey of a young athletic man diagnosed with Polycythemia Vera, a rare form of blood cancer.
Original language Italian with English subtitles.
When we're afraid, we think we can't make it - that's normal. I'm not afraid anymore.

How to cope with a rare disease?

Antonio appears to have a good life: he is young, athletic, and in a happy relationship with Elena. Recently, however, something has changed. He feels constantly tired, his athletic performance is declining, and he notices redness on his chest and the palms of his hands.
After speaking with his doctor and reviewing his blood test results, the diagnosis is clear: Polycythemia Vera, a rare form of blood cancer.
What happens when you are told to have a potentially life-threatening disease? How do you cope when fear threatens to take over?
