Meet the Women in Science of AOP Health
International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2023

AOP Health shines the spotlight on Women in Science.
Vienna, 10.02.2023, on International Women and Girls in Science Day, we had the opportunity to highlight the women in science who make up over 70% of our research and development work force. The scientists gathered for a group photo and a heartfelt exchange, and enjoyed the chance to see their colleagues in the same place.
The women spoke about what inspires them, their experience working in science, and the paths that led them to a career working in research and development.

Thinking outside the box
In discussions throughout the morning, the women emphasized solution-oriented “thinking outside the box” and scientific creativity as their way of working, and as a requirement for preclinical development. Others focused on the advantages of having a flexible working environment and working in a multicultural organization as a foundation for a positive career trajectory. They also discussed the satisfaction they earn from working specifically in the field of rare diseases and critical care, and how they find designing approaches for clinical studies of severely ill patients as meaningful and highly motivational.

“My career path has given me the chance to grow in a scientific environment and provided me with the opportunity to build an expert team, focused on approaches for clinical studies of severely ill patients.”

“Very often, solutions and the success of projects are only possible by thinking outside the box. That is why my work is always challenging and exciting. It never
gets boring.“

“I joined AOP Health because of its focus on rare diseases research, an area which is very specialized. As a CRA, my job never gets boring, and I have the chance to work on many different projects. This is fantastic.“

“What I like best about my work is the positive atmosphere, doing something worthwhile while constantly growing on a personal level.“

“The most interesting thing about my field is being able to personally contribute to the development of medicines towards patients’ needs. And, I truly appreciate my flexible working hours.“

”I enjoy working in cross-functional teams to ensure successful completion of development projects. I also appreciate that our company is a multicultural organization with colleagues from all over the world.”

“I’ve always been passionate about science communication. In this role, I get to dive deep into the research and have contact with experts in the field of hematology/oncology, which is inspiring.”

“I’m motivated to work towards cutting-edge science - to contribute and see the results of my work in medical practice.”

”In collaborating with many disciplines, you can benefit a lot from others' expertise. Preclinical development requires room for scientific creativity, which is strongly supported in our team.”
