Essential Thrombocythemia (ET)

Essential thrombocythemia (ET) is a disorder of the bone marrow characterized by an overproduction of platelets (thrombocytes) in the bone marrow. This overproduction of platelets can lead to an increased risk of blood clots and bleeding (hemorrhage). The exact cause of essential thrombocythemia is often not well understood, and it is considered a myeloproliferative neoplasm, a group of disorders where the bone marrow produces too many blood cells.
