Ambrisentan AOP is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in adults, adolescents, and children 8 years of age and older.

In PAH, blood pressure is elevated in the blood vessels through which blood flows from the heart to the lungs (pulmonary arteries). In people with PAH, these arteries narrow, so the heart has to work harder to pump blood through them. As a result, those affected experience fatigue, dizziness, and shortness of breath.

Ambrisentan AOP dilates the pulmonary arteries, thereby making it easier for the heart to pump blood. Blood pressure decreases and symptoms improve. Ambrisentan AOP can also be used in combination with other medicines for the treatment of PAH.
